Rules in the preview
- Laundry reminder: when the initial wash finishes, emit a notification if enabled. A disabled reminder produces a skipped event.
- Keep the rack cool: on a simulation tick, if temperature exceeds 40 °C and the rule is enabled, set the fan to 100 %. Below 37 °C, an enabled rule restores 40 %.
- Steamy bathroom: at the scripted shower event, humidity rises to 78 %. An enabled rule starts the extractor. The simulated fan reduces humidity faster; the cleanup step stops it when humidity reaches 55 %.
- Sunset lights: at scripted sunset, if enabled and the house is in Home mode, set the hallway to 30 % and reading lamp to 60 %.
The switches enable existing rules; this version is not a general automation editor. Rules triggered by ticks need a subsequent tick to react to a configuration change.
Investigate before changing
Inspect the device, compare its state with the rule’s trigger and check whether the rule is enabled. For rack cooling, a hot rack plus a stopped fan is a useful observation, but the disabled rule explains why cooling did not start automatically.
The night shift on Overview sets up that failure. Restoring the rule and advancing one minute verifies the outcome using the same state model as normal operation.
Replay the evidence
Activity retains up to 120 snapshots. Select a row to pause the clock and inspect power, rack temperature, house mode and selected device states at that point. Snapshots are read-only. Resuming continues from the current state; it does not branch from the selected past.
The event bus is bounded to 40 messages and is not a durable audit log. A reload resets the session. A future incident report can build on this structure, but downloadable postmortems are not included in this version.
Scripted issues
At minute 14 of the story cycle, a presence mapping issue reports the router in the bathroom. Recalibrate presence resolves that simulated issue. At minute 22, a cleaning vacuum can become stuck; Rescue the vacuum returns it to its dock.
The 30-minute story repeats selected beats. The initial laundry cycle runs once. These are demonstration scenarios, not actual device failures.
